Recreating
the Elements – Making, and using handmade paper pulp for the entire
artistic process I had great freedom for size, shape, thickness, texture
and color to create SUNRISE.
First Step –SUNRISE was installed on the warm red east wall of the home.
The sky is the limit – The second piece, the sky, included clouds and birds that were casted from handmade paper pulp.
Placing the coconut palm – The fourth piece is put in place completing SUNRISE.
Drying in the Sun – The
individual SUNRISE pieces are dried in the hot Bahamian sun to allow
additional movement and depth to the textures created with pulp painting
and pulp casting.
Perfect placement – Each piece of SUNRISE was measured carefully.
The Sun is in the house. – Because each piece of SUNRISE is raised mounted, shadows reinforces depth and movement.
Interesting shapes. The many shape of the coconut palm gives SUNRISE an interesting, loose, lazy feeling
